JOB DESCRIPTION


Job Title: Receiving/Shipping Clerk

Immediate Supervisor: Inventory Control Manager/Warehouse Manager

Employees Supervised: None

FLSA: Non-Exempt


General Description/Position Summary:

Works primarily with the Receiving team by generating, issuing and reviewing necessary receiving documentation. Acts as a liaison between Inventory Control, Receiving and Acquisitions team. Provides support for various inventory Control functions.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of receiving, shipping, and the Ceres inventory software system.
  • Assist the Acquisitions team by verifying and entering assigned item codes and or requesting items codes that are not set up for all incoming donated, USDA and purchased product.
  • Makes initial inbound inventory entries by entering completed receiving documents into the Ceres inventory management system.
  • Posting inbound receipts after final review of all paperwork
  • Assist the Transportation Manager by taking and scheduling all requests for inbound/receiving appointments.
  • Assist the Transportation Manager by entering monthly dates for Agencies to place on-line orders on the Driver route board.
  • Assist with generating Warehouse and Inventory reports and Forms.
  • Updating the inbound freight schedule throughout the day as inbound loads are completed or as directed by the transportation Manager.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Warehouse, Inventory and Transportation team.
  • Assist the Inventory Control Manager with maintaining completed receiving document files (scanning all BOLs and maintaining inbound Government documentation)
  • Have and maintain the ability to function as a back-up Receiving Associate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

OTHER ASPECTS OF THE JOB:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with co-workers, managers, and customers, both internal and external.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of The St. Louis Area Foodbank
  • The Incumbent will spend approximately 60% to 70% of the time at a computer workstation, and the rest of the time on the warehouse shipping and receiving dock

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Computer proficient with solid MS Office Suite skills, Intermediate Excel skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work.
  • Great organizational skills a must.
  • Food Defense Certification a plus (A.I.B. or S.Q.F. certification a plus)
  • The ability to consistently demonstrate SLAFB's Core Values: Stewardship, Teamwork, Agility and Respect.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Working Conditions:

Work performed in a warehouse involves a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces. Entrances may be open and work conditions during the summer months can be very hot, and during the winter very cold. Employees may on occasion be going in and out of freezers and coolers with extreme variations in temperature. Workspace could be very dusty, and on occasions can be noisy due to the traffic of motorized vehicles operated in the building. Periodically there may be work outside and be exposed to the elements. Employees may be exposed to spoiled food and sharp objects due to working with damaged product.

May work evenings and weekends due to special events and other projects related to timely and accurate warehousing and distribution of product.
