SLAFB is seeking an experienced receiving coordinator to ensure accurate data and reporting related to inventory management. Responsibilities include maintaining product inventories with a comprehensive understanding of database management. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with inventory control experience in a warehouse environment who is willing to do what it takes to help the team get the job done.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Physically unload and perform visual inspection of inbound freight. Document the temperature of frozen and refrigerated items and determine fitness of items for distribution.
  • Perform data entry for all items by preparing appropriate invoices and shipping labels.
  • Create domestic goods receipts in Web-Based Supply Chain Management as required.
  • Coordinate the storage, and rotation of product in an efficient, organized and safe fashion.
  • Work with Warehouse Associates to ensure all items are labeled and stored accurately. Rotate and remove product as directed.
  • Monitor quality of finished items. Escalate quality issues for resolution.
  • Provide inventory reports to management as needed.
  • Conduct accurate count of physical inventory and report discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Research and resolve inventory discrepancies by identifying causes and collaborating on outcomes. and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist in monthly distribution preparation, tracking and reconciliation.
  • Assist in the distribution process to meet customer needs.
  • Responsible for following policies and procedures related to food safety and equipment safety.
  • Take an active role in reinforcing safe work practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, and prior warehouse experience required.
  • Passion for the Foodbank mission and the ability to demonstrate SLAFB's Core Values: Stewardship, Teamwork, Agility and Respect.
  • Skilled in the operation of standard warehouse equipment including forklift and palette riders strongly preferred. Experience with safety standards and OSHA requirements a plus.
  • Proficient in basic math.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, ability to handle interruptions, maintains focus on tasks and produce accurate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check. 

Working Conditions

Work performed in warehouse involves a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces.  Entrances may be open and work conditions during the summer months can be very hot, and during the winter very cold.  Employee may be going in and out of freezers and coolers with extreme variations in temperature.  Workspace could be very dusty, and on occasions can be noisy due to the traffic of motorized vehicles operated in the building.  Periodically there may be work outside and be exposed to the elements.  Employee may be exposed to spoiled food and sharp objects due to working with damaged product.  Work involves moving boxes and employee must lift, bend, stoop, pick up and move objects up to 75 pounds.  Work involves using manual pallet jacks and therefore requires an ability to push and pull pallets over 2,000 pounds.

May work evenings and weekends due to special events and other projects related to timely and accurate warehousing and distribution of product.  May travel overnight to attend meetings.
