General Description/Position Summary The St. Louis Area Foodbank is looking for its next Marketing Manager to increase awareness for the organization, while increasing engagement from the public in our hunger-relief efforts. This position is also responsible for creating avenues to recruit new donors and volunteers. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, a self-starter, and views marketing as a strategic partner in any organization. The Marketing Manager reports to the Director of Marketing and is an important member of the Philanthropy and Marketing Team.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

         Responsible for ascertaining what is needed for all projects that the Marketing department is involved with, setting timelines and deadlines by which tasks need to be completed, and assigning tasks to the appropriate team members.

  • Lead efforts around social media-based fundraisers and peer-to-peer fundraisers.
  • Support efforts around first-time donors (including volunteer non-donors), national fundraising campaigns, special events, cause marketing and 3rd party fundraisers.

         Contribute content to Foodbank's website, e-newsletter, employee community (intranet) and other web-based platforms including copy, feature material, graphics and photos.

  • Develop materials for staff, Board of Directors, Young Professionals Board, etc.
  • Post on behalf of the Foodbank on various social media platforms including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Report out on statistics.
  • Compose, schedule and distribute emails to segmented databases of Foodbank constituents based on desired audience for messages.
  • Contribute and manage Foodbank blog posts.
  • Manage the development, design, production, and ordering of collateral materials by coordinating with appropriate departments and vendors.
  • Act as media spokesperson, photographer/videographer for the Foodbank when designated.
  • Write copy for the newsletters and other pieces.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or marketing.
  • Experience in media/public relations.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of internet research and advanced usage.
  • Familiar and experienced with various forms of social media.
  • Experience with the following software: Word, Excel, Explorer, Outlook.
  • Experience with web-based reporting software such as Sprout Social & Google Analytics a plus.
  • Experience with Adobe products such as: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is a plus.
  • Photography skills, AP Style knowledge a plus.
  • Experience serving as organization spokesperson a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check.

 

Special events and other projects related to this position may require evening and / or weekend work.  Meeting attendance may require overnight travel.
