SLAFB is seeking an Inventory Coordinator to ensure accurate data and reporting related to inventory management. Responsibilities include maintaining product inventories with a comprehensive understanding of database management. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with inventory control experience in a warehouse environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with operational departments to ensure a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of inventory movement. (receiving, distribution, internal transfers, etc.)
  • Maintain the St. Louis Area Foodbank's product inventories at a high degree of accuracy with comprehensive understanding of the inventory database.
  • Complete monthly Inventory reports for USDA programs.
  • Responsible for USDA inventory supply to meet program needs.
  • Monitor and maintain product control, rotating product in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate daily with Warehouse Associates to reconcile inventory cycle counts.
  • Assist in daily order processing, picking, and agency dock.
  • Conduct accurate count of physical inventory as determined by the Operations Manager.
  • Responsible for following safe workplace policies and procedures related to food safety.
  • Monitor related recalls and activate recall procedures when necessary.
  • Take an active role in reinforcing safe work practices.
  • Able to assist Receiving Department and backup Operations Manager, if needed.
  • Other Duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Associated degree in a related field a plus.
  • 2-3 years' experience in inventory control environment required.
  • Skilled in the operation of standard warehouse equipment including forklift and palette riders. required; Experience with safety standards and OSHA requirements a plus.
  • Computer proficient with solid MS Office Suite skills, Intermediate Excel skills strongly preferred .
  • Passion for the Foodbank mission and the ability to demonstrate SLAFB's Core Values: Stewardship, Teamwork, Agility and Respect.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with detail, handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check.

Working Conditions

Work performed in warehouse involves a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces. Entrances may be open and work conditions during the summer months can be very hot, and during the winter very cold. Employee may be going in and out of freezers and coolers with extreme variations in temperature. Workspace could be very dusty, and on occasions can be noisy due to the traffic of motorized vehicles operated in the building. Periodically there may be work outside and be exposed to the elements. Employee may be exposed to spoiled food and sharp objects due to working with damaged product. Work involves moving boxes and employee must lift, bend, stoop, pick up and move objects up to 75 pounds. Work involves using manual pallet jacks and therefore requires an ability to push and pull pallets over 2,000 pounds.

May work evenings and weekends due to special events and other projects related to timely and accurate warehousing and distribution of product. May travel overnight to attend meetings.
