Inventory Control Coordinator

General Description/Position Summary

Primary responsibility is to ensure accuracy of data related to inventory management. Maintain the St. Louis Area Foodbank's product inventories at a high degree of accuracy with comprehensive understanding of the inventory database.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with operational departments to ensure a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of inventory movement (receiving, distribution, internal transfers, etc.)
• Maintain the St. Louis Area Foodbank's product inventories at a high degree of accuracy with comprehensive understanding of the inventory database
• Perform weekly counts of all donated, purchased and CSFP inventory and ensure the accuracy of floor counts with our inventory system
• Creation of all Mobile Markets, Food Fairs, and Agency Mobile Pickups orders for distribution
• Collaborate daily with Warehouse Associates to reconcile inventory cycle counts
• Handle all product adjustments as needed within the inventory system
• Take the lead on reporting for the end of the Fiscal Year audits along with the Director of Operations and Warehouse Manager
• Monitor and maintain control with both dry and refrigerated product, rotate product in a timely manner, handle all spoilage and inventory adjustments and enforce the FIFO process
• Monitor related recalls and activate recall procedures when necessary
• Take an active role in reinforcing safe work practices & food safety
• Assist Receiving Department as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, Associated degree in a related field a plus
• 2-3 years' experience in inventory control environment and/or distribution warehouse required
• Proficient in Basic Math
• Ability to operate a computer, such as sending and receiving electronic mail, and preparing basic memos and reports. Computer proficient with solid MS Office Suite skills, Intermediate Excel skills strongly preferred
• Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work. Great organizational skills a must
• Skilled in the operation of standard warehouse equipment including forklift and palette riders required

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check

Working Conditions

Work performed in warehouse involves a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces. Entrances may be open and work conditions during the summer months can be very hot, and during the winter very cold. Employee may be going in and out of freezers and coolers with extreme variations in temperature. Workspace could be very dusty, and on occasions can be noisy due to the traffic of motorized vehicles operated in the building. Periodically there may be work outside and be exposed to the elements. Employee may be exposed to spoiled food and sharp objects due to working with damaged product. Work involves moving boxes and employee must lift, bend, stoop, pick up and move objects up to 75 pounds. Work involves using manual pallet jacks and therefore requires an ability to push and pull pallets over 2,000 pounds.
