JOB DESCRIPTION


Job Title: Inventory Control Coordinator

Immediate Supervisor: Director of Warehouse Operations

Employees Supervised: None

FLSA: Non-Exempt


General Description/Position Summary:

This position is responsible for managing and handling inventory, ensuring that the quantity and quality of food and related products align with the St. Louis Area Foodbank standards. You will be responsible for the management of all perpetual and par inventory locations as well as products received, stored, and issued. The Inventory Control Coordinator organizes and leads staff in conducting periodic inventory counts, adjusts quantities and locations, records and reports discrepancies to management. In all aspects, the Inventory Control Coordinator serves as a role model for the service culture and mission of the organization.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with operational departments to ensure a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of inventory movement (receiving, distribution, internal transfers, etc.)
  • Develop, document, and implement effective inventory policies, processes, procedures and reporting, and monitor effectiveness
  • Develop quality control checks and balances for all inventory data entered including, but not limited to, coding standards, item cards, lot cards and purchased product tracking
  • Develop and maintain quality control checks and balances for all inventory movement
  • Research and resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Develop organizational solutions for inventory storage and a safe practice program
  • Perform monthly/weekly counts of all donated, purchased and government provided inventory and ensure the accuracy of floor counts with our inventory system
  • Collaborate daily with warehouse team to reconcile inventory cycle counts
  • Recommend improvements for cycle count program including more efficient and effective reconciliation processes
  • Research, validate and manage product adjustments within the inventory system
  • Lead annual physical inventory activity
  • Ensure compliance, accuracy, and timeliness of inventory audits
  • Utilize FIFO methodology to properly track, monitor and control spoilage and waste with both dry and refrigerated product
  • Monitor food recalls and activate recall procedures when necessary
  • Take an active role in reinforcing safe work practices & food safety
  • Assist Shipping & Receiving Department as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
  • Associate degree in a related field a plus
  • 2-3 years' experience in inventory control environment and/or distribution warehouse required
  • Food Defense Certification a plus
  • Skilled in the operation of standard warehouse equipment including forklift and pallet riders required
  • Ability to operate a computer, such as sending and receiving electronic mail, and preparing basic memos and reports
  • Computer proficient with solid MS Office Suite skills, Intermediate Excel skills strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work. Great organizational skills a must

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to pre-employment pass drug screening and criminal background check

Working Conditions:

Work performed in warehouse involves a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces. Entrances may be open and work conditions during the summer months can be very hot, and during the winter very cold. Employee may be going in and out of freezers and coolers with extreme variations in temperature. Workspace could be very dusty, and on occasions can be noisy due to the traffic of motorized vehicles operated in the building. Periodically there may be work outside and be exposed to the elements. Employee may be exposed to spoiled food and sharp objects due to working with damaged product. Work involves moving boxes and employee must lift, bend, stoop, pick up and move objects up to 75 pounds. Work involves using manual pallet jacks and therefore requires an ability to push and pull pallets over 2,000 pounds.


May work evenings and weekends due to special events and other projects related to timely and accurate warehousing and distribution of product.
