SLAFB is currently seeking a team-oriented individual with the knack for troubleshooting and repair to keep SLAFB's 9,000+ square foot facility (office/warehouse/engagement center/kitchen) well maintained and running efficiently. The selected candidate will be responsible the day-to-day management of all maintenance and procurement for the physical facility, grounds as well as warehouse equipment. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring the ability to do minor repairs while successfully partnering with other managers on facilities planning and compliance of food safety and operational safety programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Building Maintenance:

  • Manage the maintenance of the facility, which includes janitorial oversight and the regular schedule of maintenance and repairs on all equipment and grounds.
  • Meet all health regulations and acquisition of proper permits.
  • Conducts regular checks to ensure building systems are operating efficiently and in compliance with building standards.
  • Provide oversight and upkeep of office furniture and work spaces in coordination with administrative management.
  • Responsible for facilities materials procurement and monitoring the facilities budget.
  • Create and maintain a preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Monitor building and equipment: repair or report as necessary.
  • Perform basic construction tasks in the warehouse and office areas.
  • Provide/oversee grounds maintenance: snow removal, landscaping and lawn.
  • Employee Safety & Disaster Planning:
  • Implement and document safety program and conduct safety trainings for staff to include: back/lifting safety, ergonomics, CPR, fire safety, OSHA, and basic first aid.
  • Maintain relationships and attend required trainings with first responders and other local, state and federal agencies.
  • Responsible for disaster planning, and coordination with all departments and external emergency agencies.
  • Food Safety:
  • Work with staff to ensure food safety policies and procedures meet AIB standards.
  • Take an active role in reinforcing the compliance of safety work practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
  • High school diploma and 5 -7 years of warehouse experience required; An associates or bachelor's degree from a technical or trade school is a plus.
  • Passion for the Foodbank mission and the ability to demonstrate SLAFB's Core Values: Stewardship, Teamwork, Agility and Respect.
  • Strong supervisory skills with a minimum of three years' experience developing staff to higher level.
  • Experience developing and managing a safety program including OSHA regulations and record-keeping requirements.
  • Knowledge of building and fire codes.
  • Knowledge and skilled in carpentry, light plumbing, mechanical and electrical work.
  • Skilled in the operation of standard warehouse equipment, and the ability to train and certify staff.
  • Proficient with MS office suite and web-based applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, ability to handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
