Job Title: Direct Distribution Associate

Immediate Supervisor: Equitable Access Supervisor

FLSA: Full Time - (Tuesday-Saturday, 8 Hours/Day)


General Description/Position Summary:

The Direct Distribution Associate will be the point of contact for the St. Louis Area Foodbank's direct neighbor distribution programs, Food on the Move (FOTM) and Pop-Up Food Fairs. Food on the Move and Pop-Up Food Fairs are programs that provide equitable access to nutritious foods by providing various styles of distributions (client choice and drive through model) throughout our 26-county region. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Equitable Access Supervisor and other distribution programs as needed. The Direct Distribution Associate will engage with the community, run food distributions, support our volunteer workforce, provide an excellent neighbor experience, and expand initiatives centered on equitable access to food. Candidates should be comfortable working in various socio-economic areas and have a passion for supporting community members to have reliable access to food and other resources.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and serve as the St. Louis Area Foodbank's on-site point of contact for Food on the Move and Pop-Up Food Fair distributions including logistics and volunteer support.
  • Manage food inventory through the creation and building of orders in the Foodbank's inventory system
  • Drive the 32ft FOTM Trailer and Ford F450 Towing Vehicle.
  • Monitor, collect, and enter all data from recipients for necessary reports.
  • Support the gathering of data and stories to reinforce philanthropic and marketing efforts to ensure program models are resourced appropriately.
  • Maintain food safety and EHS guidelines for food distribution.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and measurement of the success of all Food on the Move and Pop-Up Food Fair distributions.
  • Assist in executing and updating annual department work plan, including budgets, calendars, goals, and tasks.
  • Fulfilling operational tasks as related to program operations such as warehouse equipment, order pulling systems, and cardboard compactor.
  • Partner with other program team members to incorporate SNAP outreach and nutritional elements in FOTM distributions.
  • Partner with product acquisition, the warehouse, repackaging center, and drivers to ensure proper quantities of food and resources are available for each distribution.
  • Provide an excellent neighbor experience. Addressing client and community concerns as it relates to direct distributions.
  • Serve as support for the Equitable Access Supervisor and other Foodbank programs as needed.
  • Assist foodbank staff, volunteers, interns and AmeriCorps members with direction and support.
  • Attend program-related training conferences and workshops as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to set up and drive a 32ft trailer is required or a willingness to learn
  • Experience using a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment or a willingness to learn.
  • 1-5 years previous experience in program management with partners and volunteers of varying socio-economic backgrounds for a non-profit organization strongly preferred
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Ability to become ServSafe certified.
  • Demonstrated success working with diverse individuals and groups on complex community issues.
  • Passion for the Foodbank mission and the ability to demonstrate SLAFB's Core Values: Stewardship, Teamwork, Agility and Respect
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other web-based applications. Experience with or the ability to quickly learn Tableau or other mapping software required.
  • Ability to think strategically while acting tactically.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, proof of insurance and be willing to travel within the St. Louis Area Foodbank's 26 County Territory.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check.
