Established in 1975, the SLAFB has grown to become the bi-state's region's largest non-profit food distribution charity dedicated to feeding those in need. SLAFB is currently seeking a community relations development coordinator to focus on fundraising events and cause marketing. The selected candidate will be an energetic individual willing to support a variety of efforts to build relationships with new and existing donors. Qualified candidate must be a highly organized, self-starter who is driven to inspire others to help support those in need.   

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing Foodbank fundraising events, cause-marketing campaigns, virtual food drives and other third-party fundraisers.
  • Develop annual calendar of events, including individual project plans.
  • Conduct post-event analysis and generate accurate and timely internal event reports for development staff.
  • Partner with various departments to drive success of community fundraisers.
  • Attend relevant meetings and speaking engagements that help strengthen the Foodbank's fundraising efforts and visibility in the community.
  • Research prospective donors, compile files, coordinate and implement approved strategies for relationship building.
  • Develop and maintain databases for special event participants, vendors, sponsors, donors.
  • Compile and present special event status reports, including timelines and event reviews as requested.
  • Generate event correspondence.
  • Assist with tours, check presentations, data entry and mail processing.
  • Serve as secondary for data entry support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with emphasis in English, public relations, communications or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a non-profit development department is required
  • Passion for the Foodbank mission and a desire to excel in fundraising and development work.
  • Strong public speaking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, ability to handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work
  • Effective communication skills (oral & written)
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to guide effective decision making
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and crimina background check
