Communications and Marketing Specialist

General Description/Position Summary The St. Louis Area Foodbank is looking for a creative and organized go-getter to be our Communications and Marketing Specialist. This position is responsible for writing and developing content that grows the St. Louis Area Foodbank's brand across our website, printed materials, and social media. This individual will support cross-functional projects by developing consistent, unified materials that bolster the awareness and positive perception of the Foodbank. This position is also responsible for contributing to staff communications, fostering a transparent and informed work culture.


Duties and Responsibilities

§ Communications

    • Manage the development, design, and production of collateral by coordinating with appropriate departments insuring alignment with brand standards
    • Create/ write content based on client stories that will be used in the Foodbank's newsletter, annual report, blogs, and social media posts
    • Support internal communication needs surrounding change management, employee engagement, values-based initiatives, and reorganizations.
    • Supervise storage, updating, and replenishing of materials including but not limited to brochures, fact sheets and giveaway items.

  • Social Media and Digital Marketing
    • Follow brand guidelines to create and schedule content across all digital platforms
    • Compile analytics and make modifications to optimize our digital content strategy based on data driven insights
    • Moderate and engage the Foodbank's followers through social channels including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
    • Monitor SEO and optimize content to ensure our results are timely and relevant
    • Assist in website management and provide support to other departments as needed

§ Project Management

o Responsible for ascertaining project needs on behalf of the Marketing/Communications department, setting timelines and deadlines.

o Contribute to the monitoring of KPIs and budget to ensure department and organizational goals are being met, report findings to the Director of Marketing and Communications on a regular basis.

    • Research costs and methods of production for print materials.
    • Order business cards, nameplates, name badges and apparel for employees as needed.

  • Media relations
  • Act as media spokesperson for the Foodbank when designated.
  • Serve as Foodbank photographer and videographer when designated.

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations or communications.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience with data collection and reporting including but not limited to social media analytics, SEO and SEM
  • Experience with CMS, specifically WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite including: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and AP Style knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check.

Special events and other projects related to this position may require evening and / or weekend work. Meeting attendance may require overnight travel.
