The Mission of the St. Louis Area Foodbank is to build stronger communities by empowering people with food and hope. As the region's largest food distribution charity dedicated to feeding those in need, we are working to create a stronger, healthier bi-state region where no one goes to be hungry. The Summer VISTA Volunteer Services member expands the Foodbank's ability to develop and launch the full cycle volunteer engagement program with its partners through the development of trainings and necessary materials.

This position requires someone who:

AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate (SA) members:

• Members serve will be paid $514 bi-weekly, which means they will earn around $2,056 for their 8-week commitment.
• Summer Associates may perform direct service activities in addition to capacity-building activities.
• After successfully completing a term of service, Summer Associates may receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,311.11 which can be used to pay for college or student loans, or an end-of-service cash stipend of $276.64.
• Term of service estimated to be 05/30/22 – 08/21/22. Negotiable but must serve a full 8 weeks.
• Due to the short length of this service, Summer Associates are not provided any personal or medical leave.

Project Period: Members serve an 8-week term through the summer. Start and end dates (negotiable) are –

May 30 – July 24

June 13 – August 7

June 27 – August 21

Goal of the Project:

The goal of the St. Louis Area Foodbank VISTA Program is to help develop and launch the full cycle volunteer engagement program supporting volunteer utilization of identified partner agencies. In addition, the VISTA will assist with data entry, tracking and analytics.

Objective of the Assignment: Develop training materials and coordinate training for partner agencies to support their ability to build volunteer capacity, primarily through utilization of VolunteerHub.

Member Activities:

1. Learn VolunteerHub and develop training materials for agency utilization of system for their own volunteer recruitment and engagement.
2. Coordinate training for identified agency representatives.

Objective of the Assignment: Assist with identifying opportunities and barriers for partner agency volunteer utilization. Help find solutions by building tools and resources to empower agency recruitment and engagement of a local volunteer base.

1. Visit pre-identified agencies to determine capacity for VolunteerHub utilization.
2. Create training materials for agencies to adopt use of VolunteerHub.
3. Coordinate training for agencies to launch use of VolunteerHub.
4. May have additional activities as needed by the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
