NOTE: This position requires a 8 weeks of full time service (35 hours/week) with no time off

The Mission of the St. Louis Area Foodbank is to build a stronger bi-state region by nourishing people, empowering communities and transforming systems. As the region's largest food distribution charity dedicated to feeding those in need, we are working to create a nutritionally secure Missouri and Illinois. The Summer VISTA Product Sourcing member will work to source produce donations throughout our 26-county region to increase the volume of locally sourced produce coming into the Foodbank and being distributed to our neighbors. These donations may come from area farmers, growers, or farmers markets. The VISTA member will also support our operations team in filing, reviewing schedules, and any other needed services.

This position requires someone who:

AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate (SA) members:

• Members who serve will be paid $675 bi-weekly, which means they will earn around $2,700 for their 8-week commitment.
• Summer Associates may perform direct service activities in addition to capacity-building activities.
• After successfully completing a term of service, Summer Associates may receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,459.26 which can be used to pay for college or student loans, or an end-of-service cash stipend of about $280.
• While we may offer some flexibility, the term of service is 06/12/23 - 08/06/23.
• IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the short length of this service, Summer Associates are not eligible for any personal or medical leave during their term of service. All members must work full time (35 hours/week) for the full 8-week term.
• This is a hybrid position, eligible for teleservice / remote work. Eligible candidates must reside in Missouri.

Goal of the Project:

The goal of the St. Louis Area Foodbank VISTA Program is to help combat barriers that individuals and families may face in gaining access to fresh, seasonal, and nutritious foods in both Urban and Rural areas.

Objective of the Assignment: Support the Foodbank's perishable rescue program.

Member Activities:

1. Solicit local growers and farmers to help bolster the Foodbank's local produce donations.
2. Attend farmer's markets, as needed, to spread awareness of the Foodbank's perishable rescue program.

Objective of the Assignment: Support program with organizing and wrapping up distribution events.

Member Activities:

1. Manage the onboarding and relationships for new produce donors.
2. Support our operations team with work to ensure the program runs smoothly: filing, reviewing schedules, and any other needed services.
