Job Title: Information Technology (IT) Manager

Immediate Supervisor: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Employees Supervised: Network & Systems Administrator, Business Operations Analyst

General Description/Position Summary

The Information Technology (IT) Manager will be responsible for providing the vision, leadership, planning and management for the development, acquisition, implementation, and support of technology for St. Louis Area Foodbank (SLAFB). This position will partner with management and key stakeholders to align company information technology with strategic direction and build the technology organization processes and procedures to support business needs. This role contributes significantly to the support and the success of the organization by ensuring the right scalability for our business and providing the technical expertise and ability to assess what technologies and platforms are necessary to achieve the company's plans. Responsibilities of this position include strategy & planning, acquisition and deployment, and operational management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive technology strategy to include current systems and future enhancements required to provide the organization with the tools necessary to address technology issues critical to the operations of the agency.
  • Function as the primary lead for the maintenance and organization of digital libraries, including SharePoint, File Servers, OneDrive and Stream.
  • Responsible for the management and maintenance of Microsoft Windows 10 OS, Microsoft Office 365, Windows Server 2016 operating systems, virus protection, and Cisco network/voice/ phone systems, multifunction print devices, conferencing systems.
  • Create and implement SLAFB's business continuity plan to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
  • Establish and ensure cyber protection solution providing end-to-end defense of both the data and the systems of SLAFB.
  • Responsible for the preparation and management of the Technology Services budget.
  • Deploy and maintain company-wide technology guidelines, usage policies, standards, and protocols.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement dynamic reports, using Jet Reports for the Ceres product.
  • Manage and monitor relationship with SLAFB third-party service, software, and hardware providers along with Feeding America MBS.
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate technology-based training courses, and 'as needed' training on Microsoft (MS) Office products, audio visual (AV) technology and data base applications.
  • Execute technical side of on-boarding and off-boarding of employees.
  • Act as video surveillance and phone system administrator.
  • Implement controls to ensure that technology functions within the departments of the organization are reviewed on a regular basis, with recommended corrective actions for improvement.
  • Establish and manage file naming, organization, back-up, and archiving policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely and effective support for end-users with IT-related problems in a responsive and customer service-oriented manner.
  • Enhance job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations, (Participates in external user forums (OTC) to highlight the needs of the mid-size food bank).


  • 4 years of experience in an IT management role.
  • 4 years' experience in IT project management.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
  • CCNA, Network+, MSCE, CompTIA Project +, ITIL Certifications.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge.
  • Advanced database systems knowledge.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft NAV ERP solutions (GP/NAV) preferred.
  • Advanced networking knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding leadership skills.
  • Passion for SLAFB mission and core values (stewardship, teamwork, agility, and respect).
  • Ability to network among colleagues to identify and implement best practices.
  • Ability to relate effectively with other staff, volunteers, agency representatives and the public.

Physical Requirements

The IT Manager supports the information technology needs for all staff across the entire SLAFB campus. As such, the IT Manager may spend time in and out of the warehouse:

  • Walking to and from the corporate office to the warehouse, both of which are on the Foodbank campus).
  • Walking on hard concrete surfaces (in the warehouse).

Work involving the lifting, bending, stooping, picking up and moving objects up to 25 pounds may be required.

This position may work evenings and weekends due to special events and/or urgent business needs/projects.
