Human Resources Coordinator (PT) - Perfect for Students Looking to Gain HR/Recruiting Experience!

SLAFB is seeking a part-time Human Resources Coordinator who is enthusiastic about growing in the human resources/recruiting field and serving as a culture champion for an incredible organization. The primarily responsibilities of the position include administrative and employee support for the human resources department in the areas of recruiting, benefits administration, on-boarding/off-boarding and special projects. The ideal candidate will enjoy wearing many hats and have the ability to serve as an employee advocate while balancing the needs of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Administration:

  • Prepare new hire paperwork and order background checks and drug tests.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding employees.
  • Coordinate and monitor driver DOT compliance, including driver files and random drug screening.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of employee benefit plans and assist with answering employee questions.
  • Conduct benefit meetings and process employee benefit enrollments.
  • Assist in overall HR administration to support daily functions; seek ways to reduce redundancies and automate processes.
  • Maintain employee personnel and benefit files.
  • Adhere to the highest degree of confidentiality on matters that require discretion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Recruiting:

  • Assist with posting jobs in the HRIS system, social media and other sites.
  • Assist in pro-actively sourcing candidates.
  • Promote the organization as an employer of choice to potential candidates.
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources at career fairs and other events.
  • Provide responses to candidates during recruitment process and update HRIS system with appropriate candidate status.
  • Assist with scheduling interviews and new hire orientations.

Culture Champion: 

  • Assist with activities that promote a positive culture.
  • Act as an employee advocate while balancing the needs of the organization.
  • Display a positive "can do" attitude and a passion for making SLAFB an employer of choice.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or currently enrolled as a junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree (preferably in human resources or business administration).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Passion for the Foodbank mission and the ability to demonstrate SLAB's Core Values: Stewardship, Team, Agility and Respect
  • Customer service and solution oriented with a "can do" attitude.
  • Flexible and can adapt well to change in a growing environment.
  • Takes ownership of assigned tasks and initiative to research issues; seeks support when needed.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic; enjoys a fast-pace environment.    
  • Passionate about learning and growing in the Human Resources/Recruiting field.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail; handle interruptions while maintaining focus on tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
